Kevin's Krew Member heading to North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University
Shell Oil and Kevin Harvick joined forces this year to make the freshman year of college so much easier for some select seniors. We selected a senior from each of the participating States with the help from the resource officers at their respective schools. The students were selected based on needs and academic excellence. This brings us to the outstanding senior at Myers Park High School, Malachi Samuel Alexander.
Malachi, pictured here below with NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader Kevin Harvick, just before the start of the Coke 600 in Charlotte NC.
Malachi was asked how he felt meeting Kevin Harvick to which he replied, "It was a real honor to meet Mr. Harvick in person. "NASCAR has a new fan!" This young man certainly stands out this year as an outstanding member of "Kevin's Krew".
Malachi has some real talent as a student athlete. First and foremost Malachi is an AP and IB student. Malachi said, "taking those classes challenged me to think and put forth hard work". " It also set me apart from my peers who settled for the easy classes". He plays rugby, and was also involved at school in Key Club, DECA, Architecture, and engineering Club and Global. Malachi had many questions about NASCAR and was anxious to get home to see the conclusion of the race since the group had to depart early, due to its length.
Malachi was nominated for the Shell Fuel Award by Officer Steven A. Blalock of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police who is assigned to the school where Malachi attends.
Congratulations Malachi Alexander, your living testimony that Shell is giving the kids of the United States of America the "Fuel For Success".
